Fittonia albivenis / 'Pink Angel'

attention with their striking colours. These cute little plants have little red leaves with bright veins, which can be all sorts of colours from white to pink to deep red. They’re great for providing colour all year round and work really well as an accent plant on a bedside table or shelf. 

Fittonias come from the South American rainforest, where they cover the ground with their beautiful colour. Because they’re rainforest plants, they love moist conditions and a medium-low level of light. Give regular misting to keep the humidity up. They’re also a perfect plant for a terrarium, where they’ll thrive in the warm, moist air.

Fittonias will always stay small – they’ll eventually reach about 15cm tall – if you want to keep them really small and bushy, just snip back any long growth whenever you want.

Fittonias are sometimes known as the ‘nerve plant’, because their veins look (a bit) like the human nervous system.

Watering

Check once a week and if top 2 inches of the soil is dry then water.

Lighting

The nerve plants makes a great desk plant or for those shadier corners. Never expose to direct sunlight.
